Welcome to Cause for the Paws

Cause for the Paws was founded in 2004 by the Printers Alley Merchants Association, the merchants of the world famous Printers Alley in the heart of downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Our mission is to save to the lives of Nashville area pets through facilitating pet adoptions, community education, advocacy initiatives, and financial support of the incredible work of the Metro Animal Care and Control shelter (the MACC).

In just a few short years we have grown to a community-wide cooperative of individuals and businesses that are passionately committed to the belief that every pet deserves a loving "forever home," and that it is our community's responsibility to make the world safer and healthier for them.

About the MACC

"The days of the 'dog catcher' are gone!"

In April 2001 the Metro Animal Care and Control shelter (the MACC) moved into its new 20,700 square foot, state of the art facility located at 5125 Harding Place. The MACC’s new home is more than double the size of its former Boudreaux location, providing better equipment and environment for the hundreds of dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, reptiles and birds sheltered at the facility each week.

The MACC is also home to an in-house veterinary clinic proving medical care and vaccinations to sheltered pets. With its own multi-station operating suite the clinic has the capacity to perform necessary surgery, spaying, and neutering of up to four pets at a time.

Thanks to the generous support of people just like you, the MACC is proud to have placed 1,462 pets in loving "forever homes" in 2006!

All pets adopted through the MACC are healthy, temperament tested and have been spayed or neutered. The MACC works with petfinders.com to list animals available for adoption. To see pets currently available please visit their website.
